Jacob Schliekelman

Jacob Schliekelman, a 4th-grade student from Ehrenberg Elementary School, is one of 28 spellers from across Arizona who will compete for two Arizona Education Foundation-funded spots at the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC. The Arizona State Spelling Bee will be held on March 16, 2024 at the Madison Center for the Arts in Phoenix.

A recent interview with Jacob let us know more about this brilliant young man.

What is your favorite hobby/pastime when you aren't studying for the spelling bee? Playing piano and online gaming.

What do you want to be when you grow up? Game Developer or AI Engineer

What is your favorite subject in school? Science and Technology

Name someone who inspires you and why? My sister, who is a doctor, and loves to deliver babies. My brother, who is a jet mechanic. He works on F-16 fighter jets.

A little more about Jacob - He is 9 years old and in the 4th grade. He is always excited to go to school with his friends and sometimes helps clean the cafeteria. He likes reading and telling jokes. He spends his after-school time practicing and playing piano, doing math exercises, his chores, and gaming. He likes to play "Roblox", and many more games. Swimming is the sport he likes the most and he is quite good at it. He likes to read before bed and is currently reading "The Diary of Steve the Noob." He is quite an affectionate and joyful young man.
