WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL! The beginning of the new school year is just around the corner. Summer has come and is almost gone. Our staff is gearing up for the first day of school, Tuesday, August 5, 2014. Pre-registration is encouraged for new students. Meet Your Teacher on Monday, August 4, from 1:00 to 3:00. Parents are encouraged to bring their child to school the first day, have breakfast (non-students are $3.00), and visit with the teachers in the gym before school starts. Join us for a special ceremony at 8:10 a.m. before students leave with their teachers.
Our teachers and staff have made the commitment to attend professional development activities prior to school starting to better meet the needs of our children. Children are the future of our communities and we are committed to helping them gain the knowledge and skills needed to make their dreams of success come true.
Our District faces a major challenge in complying with the minimum attendance requirements. Last year our attendance rate fell below 90%, which indicates that the majority of our students missed more than 18 days of school. The school's ability to meet the Federal recommendation of 95% attendance depends greatly upon parents and your support. The La Paz County Attorney's Office has made a commitment to vigorously enforce school attendance laws.
Please send your child to school daily and on time.
School hours at both schools are: K-3rd 8:10 - 2:30 with early release on Friday is 12:00 and 4th - 8th 8:10 - 3:30 with early release on Friday is 1:00.
There are no shortcuts to providing a good education. Education is their passport to the future. Please talk to your children about the importance of attending school, focusing on learning, and having appropriate behavior everyday.
Everyone has been busy getting ready for the first day, August 5, and they are excited about this being the best year yet. We can't wait to see you!
